CEDARE and the Middle East Green Initiative Explore Opportunities to Strengthen Environmental and Sustainable Development Cooperation

H.E. Eng. Ibrahim Al-Turki, Secretary-General of the Middle East Green Initiative, met with H.E. Dr. Khaled Fahmy, Executive Director of the Center for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE), to discuss opportunities for strengthening cooperation in the fields of environment and sustainable development during a meeting held in Cairo.

The meeting addressed a number of areas of mutual interest, particularly vegetation cover development, combating land degradation, and advancing environmental and climate action, as well as exploring opportunities to support initiatives and projects that contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and enhancing environmental resilience across the region.

The two sides also discussed the importance of coordinating efforts among regional and international institutions, exchanging knowledge and expertise, and leveraging applied research, studies, databases, and up-to-date information to support the development of practical and sustainable solutions to the environmental and climate challenges facing the Arab region.

The meeting underscored the importance of continued dialogue and coordination between CEDARE and the Middle East Green Initiative, with a view to expanding areas of cooperation and knowledge exchange, and supporting efforts toward a more sustainable and resilient environmental future for the region.
